*What is GDPR?

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation

GDPR – The regulation of personal data processing will change on the 25th May 2018. This will include a range of new rights for individuals. Individuals will have the right to make direct compensation claims against organisations for breach of their privacy rights.

The The GDPR is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. When the GDPR comes into effect on the 25th May 2018, it will replace the 1995 Data Protection Directive.

Introduction of GDPR will also impose new obligations and increased liability on any organisation that processes personal data, with significant fines for breaches. This new regulation will apply to all businesses and public sector bodies that access, use, process or store the personal information.
